The railroad-line leading from Banská Bystrica to Diviaky through Harmanec valley is one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. The railways leads through the mountain terrain of the Velka Fatra Mountains, and it has 22 tunnels. A total lenght of the longest one is
4 498m. In Horny Harmanec an unimtempted copse of yew trees, which was declared the protected natural yew-grave of Harmanec attracts many tourists.
From the caves in Harmenec Valley Izbica cave, which was discovered in 1932, is opened to the public since 1950. In caves - Izbica, Horna and Tufna, bones of primeval animals have been found.
